Which home alarm security systems should you choose?
Your alarm system has to be made with the purpose of ensuring the best possible flexibility and adaptability. It is also necessary that you think about which alarm system is suitable for you, your home and your family. The best solution is to ask a qualified person to give you an advice about which system you should choose and how to make an appropriate system concept. Only a concept of the alarm system which is made within accordance to security standards, provides adequate protection and burglar detection.
Only an advice from a qualified person will help you to properly locate every individual component of your security system and to protect all critical zones of your home. The result of the prepared concept of the system is also proper allocation of the components according to the distance from the control panel and consumption of electric current of a single component. Home alarm security systems are divided in 3 basic groups:

Which detectors should you use for your home alarm security system?
For optimal protection of your home you have to locate detectors to all areas of your home where it is possible to get into the house. The best way is to make combination of indoor and outdoor protection. Of course there is a big difference in detectors for indoor usage from detectors for outdoor usage. One explanation why that is so, is because outside the temperature can be much lower and humidity can be much higher. The housings of outdoor detectors must comply with the standard IP65 or higher, which means that the product is resistant to rain and dust. Indoor detectors have to be resistant only to dust.
Optimal protection for inside is combination of passive dual-tech motion detectors and magnetic contacts. These motion detectors react on every movement in the room where they are located if there are two conditions satisfied. Two different conditions for triggering an alarm mean reduction of false alarms to minimum.
For indoor protection, I recommend you to use the LC-104PIMW detector of DSC Company. This is because I have never had any problems with this detector. It definitely ensures the most reliable protection of your home and a real added value to your home alarm security system. And yes, it looks nice also.
InfraRed (IR) detection of motion detector
The first condition is a sudden change of temperature anywhere in the room. The detector detects this sudden change of temperature by using infrared beams which are produced by passive IR element on the motherboard. In front of the passive IR element there is a lens which provides distribution of the IR beams in the matrix or grid. Through that grid the detector sees the room. The implemented logic of signal processing allows reducing false alarms.
If there is a sudden change of the temperature in more than let say 4 neighboring fields this means real alarm. If there is change only in one field this means that there is no human movement.
MicroWave (MW) detection of motion detector
Second condition is triggered by a microwave element which is based on Doppler Effect. This element transmits microwave RF energy which will fill the room and all surrounding areas with radio waves. These waves will be reflected back toward the transmitter antenna. If in the area of the detector an object moves, the waves that are reflected will be either higher in frequency if an object is moving closer to the detector or lower if an object is moving away from the detector.
For the detector it does not matter in which direction the object is moving. The only thing which is important is that the difference in the frequency, and that means an alarming condition.
Point detection or protection with magnetic contacts
One of the most reliable detectors are magnetic contacts. When we talk about magnetic contact we talk about point detection. If you want to use point detection this is ok, but you have to protect all windows and doors. If you leave on door or window unprotected, that means the same as if you don´t have any protection. The good side of using magnetic contacts is that there is no false alarm.
But the bad side is if someone breaks the glass in the window, then the window frame doesn’t open at all. Which means that magnetic contact doesn’t trigger an alarm in your home security system. So, the best solution is to use magnetic contacts and motion detectors together, or to use it together with glass break detectors. For usage of magnetic contacts, I would suggest to you the Tane Alarm Products Company.
Of course you have to be careful about which magnetic contact to use according the door or window you want to protect. It is possible to use a surface mount magnetic contacts like SM-25 and MET200 or embedded or built-in magnetic contacts like MINI-10. Here are also the pictures of magnetic contacts.
Home alarm security systems can be even more useful if you also use outdoor detectors which ensure detection of the intruder before they brake into your home. It is very useful but also very difficult to decide which detectors to choose. You must know that there are more problems with outdoor alarms causing false alarms. Especially if you have a driveway alert enabled. Some of these false triggers are pets, grass, trees, bushes, etc. Outdoor detectors have to be designed in the way that these side effects do not affect to their detection.
There are two different groups of outdoor detectors: passive outdoor detectors and active outdoor detectors. The main difference is that the passive detectors only receive signals of the area to which they are target. Active detectors are more reliable. There are transmitter and receiver in outdoor detector. Between the transmitter and receiver there is an infrared IR beam. When the IR beam is interrupted this means an alarm is triggered.
In other words, when something or someone gets between transmitter and receiver and interrupt the IR beam, this means an alarm. This kind of detectors is called barriers, and with their usage, home alarm security systems can be even more reliable.
Wireless home alarm security systems
There are a lot of wireless home alarm security systems on the market but they are not all really reliable. Of course there are many advantages of installing wireless system like you do not need to make any installation prepare and you can put your detectors and other elements of security system actually where ever you want. The only thing to care about is to ensure that every detector is in satisfied range from the control panel – not too close and not too far.
Of course you have to ensure that detector covers over all area that you want to protect. Some wireless security systems have many problems. The main problem comes from the range of the control panel. In the specifications of almost every security system you can read that the range is over 150m.
There is no such wireless security system on the market which could ensure reliable operation in range over 150m. Ok, it maybe does if there are no walls between the control panel and detectors and other elements. But every house has many walls.
